You will find out about this later in the article.
A well-arranged roof terrace will certainly give you a lot of joy.
It will allow you to relax. As much as possible in silence and seclusion or among family and friends.
The area of the roof terraces is usually spacious and large enough to be able to practice on it with friends. Are these stretching exercises, aerobics or maybe a small outdoor gym with wrestling mats?
You are only stopped by your imagination and of course your needs.
After all, it does not always have to be the roof of your private house. It can be, for example, the roof of the block in which your apartment is located. Adaptation is possible anywhere. Only the formalities that must be followed change.
Most often, however, the adaptation of roofs to relaxation zones takes place on the roofs of apartment blocks. Their surfaces are usually large and flat. Construction is not complicated. Correct water drainage is already done. Most often, there is no need for additional waterproofing on the roof surface, because the roof is already protected against weather conditions such as snow, rainwater. There is no point in making decisions and visual inspection. You have to look at the design. There is a lot of key data out there. However, we know that not everyone must be able to read the project, but this should be helped by people employed in investments from which you download this data, or who design your space.
If you are the owner of a hotel, you can also use the potential of its roof and this huge free space.
Your guests will certainly be happy to eat meals on it, take advantage of warm days, sunlight or exercise, meditation, etc.
It is worth investing in such a place and create the only such roof terrace in the area. Regulars will use it eagerly and new regulars are guaranteed.
You are certainly wondering if your roof is suitable for making a ventilated terrace?
Is its surface of the right slope? Do you have well made drainage or is the stiffness of the layers adequate?
The most important thing!
It should be remembered that the roof layers must be sufficiently rigid and stable.
The surface can be lined with heat-sealable roofing felt, which is a waterproofing layer. It can also be a concrete screed or just enough rigid layers of styrodur.
If the styrodur is too soft, there is a risk of damage. Also terrace settlement, collapsing adjustable pedestals or lack of stability of the whole structure.
In this case, you can set paving tiles on the roof to harden the surface and distribute the point pressure that the plastic pedestals generates over a larger surface.
Here is an example:
Whether the top layer is a heat-sealable roofing felt or screed, or maybe poured gravel or other drainage layers is no longer of such importance. Here we are able to handle everything.
You can also lay a non-woven geotextile on the ground, which, like the foundations, performs a protective function and additionally makes all small debris stop on it and do not clog the drain pipes draining the roof terrace.
If after reading the above information it turns out that your roof meets the requirements, it means that you are very close to having a beautiful place on your roof.
Do you want it to be wooden?
Or maybe from composite boards?
Or ceramic tiles?
If the decision has already been made, that's great.
We can proceed to the next stage: proper assembly.
You need to measure the height of your final deck to know what pedestals heights you will need.
Then spread the brackets at the appropriate distances that generate either boards or strength of the boards and joists used.
We usually support the ceramic tiles in the corners, and when they are of oversize dimensions, the pedestals should be placed at strategic points of the tiles.
Joists, however, are usually supported every max ~ 50 cm. This is due to the bending strength of the wood, i.e. the pressure exerted in this case from above.
When the assembly is in progress, you can already see the outlines of these beautiful surfaces on which we will spend carefree moments in a moment.
Railings are an equally necessary element on the roof terrace. They keep us safe. Thanks to them and their stable assembly, we can be sure that we will not fall outside the building. And they also have to be anchored to something.
And it is anchored firmly enough that we can be sure that they will provide all of us as users with the appropriate level of security.
Thanks to the adjustable pedestals, we can easily cover / mask them. It is only a matter of choosing the right height of the adjustable pedestals as well as their subsequent assembly. For the terrace to be stable, the terrace adjustable pedestals must also be placed steadily on these often uneven elements.
In a moment we will be happy owners of a charming corner on the roof, which will serve us both for fun and relaxation.
