The pedestals should be placed on a hard, level, and clean surface. In the case of surfaces covered with waterproofing, it is important to thoroughly review the layers beneath the waterproofing and follow the manufacturer's instructions. The pedestals are designed with a base bottom that is free of sharp edges that could damage the waterproofing.
The most common types of waterproofing on which pedestals can be directly placed include membrane roofing, EPDM, PVC, and liquid-applied waterproofing. However, for added safety, we recommend using SBR rubber pads.
In the case of underlayment membrane, liquid waterproofing, or other types of waterproofing that require protective layers as recommended by the manufacturer, it is necessary to use an SBR rubber pad to avoid the risk of damage.
In situations where the waterproofing is directly applied on a thermal insulation layer, it is important to determine the compressive strength of the insulation (minimum value of 200 kPa/m2, optimal value of 300 kPa/m2 or higher).
