Elevated terraces are constructed as a floating technology, which means they do not require permanent gluing or anchoring to the substrate, similar to other floating floors.
Recommendations regarding gluing or anchoring usually apply to specific areas of the terrace. Sometimes it is recommended, for example, on the last rows of pedestals at the terrace edge or for individual pedestals to provide additional stability. In the case of terraces without boundary restrictions or when installing vertical finishing plates, also known as disguises, we recommend gluing the pedestals located at the edge of the terrace.
An important advantage of pedestal-supported terraces is the absence of the need for permanent fixation to the substrate, which minimizes the risk of damage to commonly used waterproofing. The system of elevated terraces is an alternative to adhesive-fixed terraces, which can easily be damaged in a moderate climate due to cyclic freezing and thawing throughout the year when the temperature exceeds 0°C.
When it comes to performing adhesive works on floating terraces, we recommend using an appropriate adhesive for this purpose, such as 3M™ 560 Polyurethane Sealant.
